Tekton drop mallet replacement nylon inserts are made of nylon with 73 Shore D hardness. They are wear-resistant, non-marking, oil and grease resistant, and won't chip, even in sub-zero temperatures. Each nylon insert is press-fit into the steel head with ridges that hold it securely in place. It does not unscrew. To remove a worn insert, clamp the drop mallet in a vise so the jaws grip the sides of the insert firmly. Rock the mallet gently back and forth to unset the insert until it pops free. To install the new insert, place it flat on a sturdy surface, then position the drop mallet over it with the open side facing down. Tap the opposite face of the mallet (the side with the remaining insert) until the new insert seats fully into place.
